
The Nature Center offers a variety of adult/child, family or child only nature programming throughout the year including stargazing and butterfly gardening in the summer, to snow shoeing in the winter. Celebrate the wonders of the world around us with this event that will educate, entertain and amaze you. Event varies from year to year with educational exhibits, hands-on activities, animals of all kinds and a variety of entertaining talks. This event will be held on April 25, 2009 at the James “Pate” Philip State Park, 2054 W Stearns Road in Bartlett. For further information call 847-608-3100.
This is a great way to spend time with your children and experience the American pastime of fishing. This event is free with donated prizes from area businesses and merchants. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and have their own fishing equipment. This event will be held on August 15, 2009. Registration begins at 8:15am with the fishing starting at 9am and ending at 11am. Awards will be presented at 11:30am. The event is held at Beaver Pond Park, two blocks east of Route 59 on Stearns Road. No pre-registration required. A pre-derby clinic will be held at 8am to assist new fishermen.
